What is Drawing and Talking

One technique that spans generations!

Working over a series of 12 weekly sessions, this non-intrusive person-centred tool allows older individuals, particularly those with dementia, to express their emotions and connect with others in a manner that transcends conventional verbal communication.

By using drawing, a universal form of expression, Drawing and Talking helps older adults to articulate their feelings in a way that is less reliant on cognitive abilities and verbal articulation. Drawing and Talking is a therapeutic intervention that can be delivered to anyone from the age of 5 years to 105!  It is designed as a short-term pro-active intervention intended to complement, rather than replace, the work of Specialist Mental Health Services.

Drawing and Talking Therapy can be delivered quickly and cost effectively by anyone who has received the appropriate training.
